desjardins: Desjardins sets October credit card system maintenance

Desjardins has confirmed that maintenance for its credit card management system will run from October 12 to October 20, 2026. Cardholders will still be able to make purchases and payments during the transition, but several account-management features will be temporarily unavailable.

The maintenance is part of a broader modernization project that Desjardins says is designed to create a simpler platform and support additional self-service tools in the years ahead. The financial institution previously postponed the rollout in April after members and clients raised concerns about proposed changes.

What Desjardins cardholders can still do

During the maintenance window, customers will be able to use their credit cards for in-store and online purchases. Payments will also continue to be accepted, and account information will remain viewable through Desjardins services.

Fraud detection and prevention systems will remain active. Customers who lose a card or have one stolen can still lock or replace it by telephone, according to Desjardins’ guidance.

Features that will be temporarily unavailable

Desjardins says cardholders should complete important account changes before October 12, when possible. The following services will not be available during at least part of the maintenance period:

  • Increasing or reallocating a credit limit for business accounts
  • Updating contact information
  • Changing a personal identification number
  • Setting a PIN for a first-time login
  • Changing or modifying BONUS DOLLARS cash-back settings
  • Replacing a damaged card

The institution recommends that customers update addresses, arrange any necessary credit-limit increase and add their card to a mobile wallet before the maintenance begins. That preparation may be particularly important for people planning a large purchase or expecting to rely on a digital wallet while waiting for a replacement card.

Changes for business credit card users

The modernization will also change how business credit card accounts are organized in AccèsD Affaires. Cards linked to the same business account will be grouped under a primary account, with one overall credit limit and individual limits available for each card.

Businesses will generally make one payment to the primary account rather than separate payments for each linked card. A payment made directly to an individual card may take up to 48 hours to appear in the primary account, according to Desjardins’ explanation of the new structure.

Businesses using the Business Freedom Solutions package will continue to have a separate line of credit. Desjardins says those customers will receive a new primary credit card account number, while existing card numbers and the line-of-credit number will remain unchanged.

The new business platform is intended to bring card management, user access, transactions, credit limits, reporting and governance tools into one location. It will also add self-service options such as replacing or suspending cards, adjusting limits and managing users.

Statements and personal financing will also change

Desjardins is redesigning its credit card statements so customers can more easily identify the amount due, minimum payment and account activity. The new format will include summaries by card and a consolidated view of transactions.

Customers with Accord D financing will find that financing information moves into the cards, loans and credit section of Account Summary in the Desjardins mobile app or on the AccèsD home page. Desjardins also says some customers may be able to convert Accord D financing into a personal loan, potentially changing how the financing is managed and repaid.

Joint cardholders will remain joint cardholders under the modernization. Desjardins says existing joint accounts will not change unless the cardholders choose to make adjustments.

What happens after the maintenance period

The maintenance period is scheduled to end on October 20, but some changes will take effect later in October. Desjardins says several revised credit card contracts will become effective on October 19, 2026, while business account and statement changes will be introduced as part of the wider rollout.

The project follows an earlier delay announced on April 13, 2026. At that time, Desjardins said it needed more time to assess concerns, improve the cardholder experience and provide additional support before proceeding.

Customers who need help with the modernization can use Desjardins’ dedicated information page or call 1-855-878-2973. Desjardins has also warned that it will not contact cardholders to request personal information as part of the system change.
