Fitbit Edge is Google’s newest fitness tracker, combining a slim colour display with built-in GPS, workout guidance and health-monitoring tools designed for all-day wear.
Google announced the device on October 12, 2026, and made it available for pre-order through the Google Store and retail partners.
The Fitbit Edge is priced at CA$229.99 in Canada and is expected to reach store shelves on October 27.

What the Fitbit Edge offers
The tracker is designed to sit between Google’s screenless Fitbit Air and the more fully featured Pixel Watch 5.
It has a 1.34-inch always-on AMOLED colour display, a mechanical side button and a case measuring 11.58 millimetres in height.
Google says the display provides 46 per cent more viewing area than previous Fitbit trackers, making it easier to check exercise data, sleep information and notifications without reaching for a phone.
The device weighs 17.7 grams without its band and uses an aluminium housing made with recycled material.
It will be sold in Obsidian, Fog, Olive and Canyon colour combinations, with small and large active bands included in the box.
GPS, workout tracking and health sensors
The Fitbit Edge includes built-in GPS, allowing users to record outdoor routes without carrying a smartphone during a run, walk or bike ride.
An integrated altimeter tracks changes in elevation, while the tracker supports more than 40 exercise modes and automatic activity recognition.
Google says users can see live workout metrics on the device and review information such as cardio load, readiness, pace, distance, active-zone minutes and estimated VO2 max in the Google Health app.
The tracker also includes continuous optical heart-rate monitoring, blood oxygen sensing, a skin-temperature sensor, an accelerometer and a gyroscope.
An ECG app and irregular-heart-rhythm notifications are available in supported markets, although Google says health features vary by country and are not intended to diagnose or treat medical conditions.
Sleep tools include sleep-stage tracking, Sleep Score information and recovery-related measurements such as heart-rate variability and resting heart rate.
Battery life and repairability
Google rates the Fitbit Edge for up to seven days of battery life under specified testing conditions.
A five-minute charge is designed to provide up to one day of battery life, while a full charge takes about 90 minutes according to the Canadian Google Store listing.
The tracker is rated for 5 ATM water resistance and IP68 dust and water protection when it leaves the factory.
Google is also highlighting repairability as a major feature, saying the Fitbit Edge has a modular internal design and a user-replaceable battery.
That change could extend the useful life of the device compared with wearables that require replacement when their batteries lose capacity.
Google Health Premium and phone compatibility
The Fitbit Edge works with the Google Health app and requires a Google Account for setup.
It is compatible with most phones running Android 11 or newer and Apple devices running iOS 16.4 or newer.
Core features include notifications, quick replies, media controls, alarms and Google Maps directions.
Personalized coaching powered by Gemini is included through Google Health Premium, which costs CA$12.99 per month after the introductory period listed by Google.
Buyers receive three months of Google Health Premium at no additional charge with the tracker.
Premium features include adaptive fitness plans, personalized daily guidance, detailed sleep insights and advanced health trends.
Google says blood-pressure and insulin-resistance trends are intended for general wellness information only and should not be treated as clinical measurements.
Stephen Curry special edition
Google is also offering a Stephen Curry Special Edition Fitbit Edge developed with the four-time NBA champion and Google Performance Advisor.
The special edition uses a different band design and is priced at US$219.99 in Google’s announcement, while Canadian store pricing may vary by configuration and availability.
For Canadian shoppers, the standard Fitbit Edge remains the more affordable option at CA$229.99 before taxes.
What happens next
The Fitbit Edge expands Google’s wearable lineup with a dedicated fitness tracker rather than another full smartwatch.
Its combination of a seven-day battery, built-in GPS and a smaller profile may appeal to users who want workout and health data without the size or broader app focus of a smartwatch.
Pre-orders are now open, with retail availability scheduled for October 27, 2026.
