What is at stake in Auckland

New Zealand are trying to avoid a clean sweep after India won the first three matches of the series.

The hosts have scored heavily in the series but have been unable to defend their totals against India’s aggressive batting line-up.

New Zealand posted 225-4 in the first T20I, 180-5 in the second and 198-3 in the third.

India chased each of those targets, winning the first match by four wickets, the second by four wickets and the third by six wickets.

Eden Park’s short boundaries could make another high-scoring contest possible, but New Zealand have already lost two early wickets in Auckland.

India will bat second, as they have done throughout the series, and will be seeking a fourth consecutive victory before the finale.

What happens next

New Zealand will continue its first innings before India begins the chase.

The fifth and final T20I will determine whether India completes a 5-0 sweep or New Zealand finishes the series with a win.

The teams are also scheduled to meet in a five-match ODI series beginning November 4, followed by two World Test Championship matches later in November.
