PEI municipal election results take shape across Island

Unofficial results from Prince Edward Island’s municipal elections show Cory Snow leading in Summerside and Janice Macbeth ahead in Three Rivers, while Charlottetown’s mayoral race remains incomplete.

pei election: PEI municipal election results take shape across Island

The 2026 PEI election produced a mix of confirmed wins, acclaimed councils and still-developing races Monday night as voters chose mayors and councillors in municipalities across Prince Edward Island.

The vote was a municipal election rather than a provincial contest.

Municipalities across the Island held their general elections on Monday, November 2, 2026, with Elections PEI administering contests in Charlottetown, Cornwall, Stratford, Summerside and Three Rivers.

Pei Election: Summerside mayoral race decided

Cory Snow won the Summerside mayoral race over Basil Stewart, according to the unofficial results posted by Elections PEI.

Snow received 4,106 votes to Stewart’s 1,447, with all 40 polls reporting in the city.

Snow led in each of Summerside’s eight wards listed in the results.

The result gives Summerside a clear mayoral outcome on election night, although the figures remain unofficial until the municipality completes the required verification and certification process.

Macbeth ahead in Three Rivers

Janice Macbeth was leading the mayoral contest in Three Rivers after all 17 polls reported.

Macbeth had 1,598 votes, ahead of Anne Forrester-Van Donkersgoed with 775, Robert Rafuse with 340 and Carla Morgan with 79.

Macbeth led in all four wards shown on the unofficial results page.

Charlottetown result remains incomplete

Charlottetown’s mayoral contest was still being counted, with 54 of 79 polls reporting on the Elections PEI results page.

Amir Zuccolo held the lead with 3,751 votes, followed by Philip Brown with 2,583 votes, Cecil Villard with 1,200 and Mitchell G.

Tweel with 1,497.

Daniel Mullen, Daniel Cousins and Anthony Fitzpatrick were further back in the partial count.

Because several polls had not yet reported, the Charlottetown figures could change before the count is completed.

The results page also showed one ward without posted figures at the time of the update.

Acclaimed mayors in Cornwall and Stratford

Some of the Island’s largest municipal contests were settled by acclamation before voters went to the polls.

Minerva McCourt was listed as acclaimed for mayor of Cornwall, while Steve Ogden was listed as acclaimed for mayor of Stratford.

The Stratford results page also listed all three ward contests as acclaimed.

Cornwall’s results page also listed the contests.

Elections PEI noted that electors in Stratford’s Ward 2, Stewarts Cove, had no election to vote in because the mayor and two councillor positions were all filled by acclamation.

Island-wide municipal results

The provincial government’s unofficial results page includes municipalities that held votes as well as communities where candidates were acclaimed or positions remained vacant.

The government warned that the posted information is based on submissions from municipalities and may not be complete or independently verified.

Voters seeking official results are directed to contact their municipality directly.

Several smaller municipalities recorded uncontested contests, while others were still awaiting results or had vacancies listed.

The provincial results page showed elected candidates in communities including Crapaud, Malpeque Bay, Miscouche, Murray Harbour, Northport and Tignish.

What happens next

The next stage is the verification of municipal election results.

The Island’s municipal election schedule lists November 4 for verification, November 6 as the deadline to request a recount and November 16 as the deadline for judicial review and the declaration of official results.

New councils are expected to be sworn in between December 1 and December 7.

Until that process is complete, the mayoral and council outcomes reported Monday night should be treated as unofficial.

Final standings may change if additional counts, recounts or legal reviews are required.
